A compilation of google-image-search images that are lumped into color groups by search results. I searched my name, elementary school, mom’s maiden name, dad’s name, and hometown. It looks like random images, but they all all derived from a part of me. (yes, kurt cobain is from my hometown)

So I’m hovering over the paint samples, completely overwhelmed. Not that I can paint my rental, but imagining what I’d choose if I could. I pluck a shades-of-white sample from the wall, it reminds me to bleach my teeth tonight before bed. I hook a yellow sample, and imagine that fat canary diamond I wish was on my left hand. After I get past how weird I might be, I wonder what else can a paint chip sell?

I’m a poor grad student (or at least I can milk that idea for the next couple holiday seasons)

I recently discovered a gem in central Texas, it’s called Hobby Lobby! As I walked up an down every isle in the store (yes I did), I decided to make Longhorn/Texas Christmas ornaments for some of my friends and family.

I spent $8.88 for the supplies to create 6 of these masterpieces. And yes it’s on the gaudy side, but that’s how I roll…

“Isn’t the knowledge of spelling and critical thinking necessary!”

- I always thought spelling was important. Smart people are just good spellers right? Now that spell check is available in word programs and online, the subject has very little importance in elementary curriculum.

Have you heard of this new sensation ‘the semantic web?’ It allows computers to read any and all online information so it can basically learn and think for you. What if we stop teaching critical thinking and problem solving, because computers will do that for us too.

There wouldn’t be amazing creatives like those kick-ass kids from Austin!

Afterward: I posted the above message at the beginning of November, and looking back on it a month later, my tone is terribly similar to the rants of Bob Garfield as he comments on the dying advertising industry. Hopefully I don’t become one of those bitter old people who thinks the world will come crashing down around them with evolution.

Let’s change traditions! Tradition, Tra-smishion!

The traditional wedding has completely changed. The only things that remain constant (but not always) are the traditional white gown worn by the bride, and that binding document that makes it all real.

All these things have changed:

Often not in a church

Maid of honor can now be man of honor

Two men or two women can get married (in some states)

‘The Cake Boss’ has kicked 5-tiered cakes to the curb

Cake toppers can be fun and tell a story

My Favorite Outdoor Work:

Publicis in the West working for Washington State Lottery did some outdoor work in Seattle that got tons of great attention.

Lotto winners bought outdoor space to tell the world their personal message. My favorite piece was the entire side of a brick building painted, with an arrow to a third floor window. The copy read something to the effect of, Bill lives here, he is a cheater, do not date him.
